Prep time : 10 minutes
Cook time : 35 minutes
Makes 7 cups of Spiced Apple Cider
Ingredients :
6 cups (48 oz) No sugar added apple juice (or light apple juice or cider)
3 cups water
3 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
Peel of 1 orange
Peel of 1 lemon (or use 1-2 lemon herb tea pouches)
1/3 cup sugar free caramel syrup (or 1/2 cup Splenda)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon maple extract (Optional)
1 teaspoon butter extract (Optional)
Instructions :
In a large pot add all ingredients and bring to a boil. After boiling for 5 minutes reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 30 minutes and occasionally stir. Turn off heat and serve with a cinnamon stick or fat free whip topping and sugar free caramel sauce. For storage, let cider cool, pour back into original apple juice container, and keep refrigerated.
Hint : I make this delicious drink in my spare time for future use. I sip on one cup of the fresh hot cider then pour the cooled concoction back into the original apple juice container and store in the fridge. This way I can heat up and enjoy some cider anytime I want – YUMMY!
