F is for Fabulous Fall Food
Fall is the time of year where all the goodies start to come out! Temptation, cravings, and holiday pounds seem to lurk around every corner. Here are some ways to get your fix on your favorite seasonal treats and delights without gaining those extra pounds!
Craving Cobbler?
Spiced Peaches Recipe
Ingredients :
1 peach (not ripe)
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp sugar free vanilla syrup
2 tbsp Splenda
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp sugar free praline (or caramel) syrup
Optional : 2 tbsp Low fat granola + pecan pieces (honey glazed)
Instructions :
1) Cut peach into thin slices (leave skin on, remove seed)
2) Spray non-stick spray onto a small skillet – turn stove to Medium High heat
3) Place peach slices in warm skillet. Shake cinnamon lightly all over peaches. Put about 2 shakes of nutmeg over peaches.
4) Stir in vanilla extract, vanilla syrup, Splenda, and water to peaches. cover for about 10 minutes – stir every couple minutes to not burn.
5) Uncover skillet. Add granola and pecan pieces if desired. Stir occasionally until peaches cooked thoroughly.
6) Stir in praline syrup and take off heat. Serve and enjoy!
Total Time = 20 minutes
If you don’t add the granola and pecans (really only adds about 50 or so calories if you do), the nutrition facts and calories of the dish really only come from the peach.
Nutrition Facts of 1 large (2 3/4 inch diameter) peach = 68 calories, 17 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 15 g sugars, 2 g protein
